The home advantage

No waiting room.
No running into a friend in the parking lot.

Teens talk when they feel safe. For most of them, that's their own room, not an office.

  • Real openness

Teenagers say more, sooner, from a space they already own. Sessions start where the real conversation is, without the clinical setting to warm up from.

  • Total privacy

No sign on a door, no lobby, no chance of running into a classmate's mom in Cool Springs. Counseling stays your family's business.

  • Built around the season

Evening sessions fit around practice, travel ball, tutoring and church. Nobody loses an hour to I-65 or Hillsboro Pike traffic.

  • Continuity at college

Students heading to Vanderbilt, Belmont, Lipscomb or MTSU keep the same counselor through the transition instead of starting over.

Faith-based counseling

A faith-based therapist who partners with your church.

Joe is a Christian therapist, and faith runs through his work. Sessions draw on Scripture, prayer and a biblical view of identity alongside proven clinical methods, so families get care that honors what they believe.

Joe works alongside churches and youth ministries across Franklin, Brentwood and Nashville. Pastors and youth leaders refer students and families to him, and he serves as a resource when a ministry needs clinical support for a teen.

He spent 15 years in youth ministry with his wife and wrote More Than OK, the faith-based anxiety and depression curriculum used with teens at Saddleback Church and other congregations.

Joe Jardine, licensed therapist and performance mindset coach

Meet Joe Jardine, MS, LMFT

Two decades of helping young people find their footing.

Joe grew up inside the pressure of competitive academics and high-stakes youth sports, then played in college before becoming a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. For more than 20 years he has worked with teens, college students and their families on the things that keep them stuck: anxiety, depression, ADHD, confidence, screens and performance pressure.

His work as a performance mindset coach has taken him from youth locker rooms to NFL and NCAA athletes, Nickelodeon performers and professional CrossFit champions. He spent a decade as a psychology professor and coached baseball at one of the top high school programs in the nation, so he knows how young people learn, and what they'll actually use.

Faith has shaped his work from the start. Joe and his wife served in youth ministry together for 15 years, and he wrote More Than OK, a faith-based anxiety and depression workbook curriculum for teens now used by churches including Saddleback Church.

Families describe him as part wise friend, part ally, part coach. His approach is solution-focused and active: real tools, real accountability, and a relationship teens actually look forward to. Joe is a husband and a dad of three who coaches his own kids' teams, and you'll find him on a pickleball court or a trout stream when he's off.

Questions parents ask

Frequently asked questions

Is virtual counseling as effective for teens?

For most teens and young adults, yes. Research on telehealth therapy shows results comparable to in-office care for anxiety and depression, and many teens open up faster from a space where they already feel at ease.

Why do teens prefer counseling from home?

Most teens are simply more comfortable in their own space. Walking into a therapy office can feel clinical and a little intimidating, and a waiting room raises the worry of being seen. At home, in their room with their own things around them, they relax faster and talk more openly, which means real progress starts sooner.

Do you take insurance?

Wilco Counseling is private pay. You'll get a superbill you can submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Ask about current rates on your consultation call.

Do we have to be Christian?

No. Joe is a faith-based therapist, and many families seek him out for that reason, but he works just as fully with families of any background.

What will I know as a parent?

Joe checks in with parents whenever it's needed on goals and progress. Your teen's specific words stay private so trust holds, with clear safety exceptions explained in the first session.

How long are sessions, and when?

Sessions are a clinical hour, 45 to 50 minutes, by secure video. Afternoon and evening times are available around school and practice.

Do you work with athletes who aren't struggling?

Yes. Many athletes come to sharpen focus, confidence and consistency before a big season, a showcase or the recruiting process.
