Why do teens prefer counseling from home?
Most teens are simply more comfortable in their own space. Walking into a therapy office can feel clinical and a little intimidating, and a waiting room raises the worry of being seen. At home they relax faster and talk more openly, which means real progress starts sooner.
Is virtual counseling as effective for teens?
For most teens and young adults, yes. Research on telehealth therapy shows results comparable to in-office care for anxiety and depression.
Do you take insurance?
Wilco Counseling is private pay. You'll get a superbill you can submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Ask about current rates on your consultation call.
How long are sessions, and when?
Sessions are a clinical hour, 45 to 50 minutes, by secure video. Afternoon and evening times are available around school and practice.
Can my teen contact Joe between sessions?
Yes. Clients get unlimited texting with Joe between sessions for support when they hit a hard moment. Texting isn't for emergencies; in a crisis, call or text 988 or call 911.
What will I know as a parent?
Joe checks in with parents whenever it's needed on goals and progress. Your teen's specific words stay private so trust holds, with clear safety exceptions explained in the first session.
Are you a faith-based therapist?
Yes. Joe is a Christian therapist who integrates Scripture and prayer with proven clinical methods and partners with churches and youth ministries across Franklin, Brentwood and Nashville.
Do we have to be Christian?
No. Many families seek Joe out for his faith, but he works just as fully with families of any background.
What ages do you work with?
Joe works with middle schoolers, high schoolers, college students and young adults through their mid-20s, along with their parents.
Do you work with athletes who aren't struggling?
Yes. Many athletes come to sharpen focus, confidence and consistency before a big season, a showcase or the recruiting process.
Where are you located?
Joe is based in Franklin, Tennessee and sees clients virtually anywhere in Tennessee, including Brentwood, Nashville, Spring Hill, Leiper's Fork, Thompson's Station and Nolensville.
